And why? Those lineup shots sparked a fire in me, and spawned my greatest passion, ultimately changing the course of my life.Ī good composition for sure, but also a mood or feeling that helps people to connect to the photo. I had no idea what I was doing really, but somehow managed to get a few decent photos. Since I couldn't surf, I started shooting lineup photos. The waves were so good, and as torturous as it was, I would go watch the waves every day. I was living a block from the beach at the time, and it was a good winter for surf. As for the surf photography, that started when I blew out my knee in college. But those were mostly just snapshots like anyone would take. So I would say initially, I was just trying to bring home travel mementos in the form of photos. I caught the travel bug before I began shooting photos. What inspired you to begin shooting images? I consider myself very fortunate to have had him and my mom as parents. He was an artist, and a very creative person. He was a huge part of my life, and really shaped who I am today. Who did you look up to and admire when you were a child?ĭefinitely my dad. So I think that helped to teach us a bit of board control… I kinda strayed from the question there! If you lost your board to the beach, anyone waiting for a board could grab it and paddle out. In our Junior Lifeguard program, there were always more kids that wanted to surf than there were (good) surfboards. But I loved being in the ocean, and I was determined to learn. Most of the time, San Clemente Pier is a dumpy closeout, so it's kind of a difficult wave to learn on. Honestly, I don't remember my first wave. What was the feeling you had when you first stood on a surfboard? It was a 6'3" Blue Hawaii with a neon spray job. I think I was 11.Ĭhristmas of ‘92 at the age of 12. Thankfully, they enrolled me in the Junior Lifeguard program at San Clemente Pier, which is where I learned to surf for the first time. What about shaping machines, are they costly? The point of the forum is to help each other. Trying to get back into it.again, I just need a few templates. My apologies Folk's I just been puter illiterate for a few yrs. This message have a pic of a template attached. Like Jamie said, the paper comes out of ur printer with gridlines and numerated, so u just have to glue them together. After the design part boardcad u have two oportunities: save it as a brd file(for future modifications) or print it as a pdf file. I think it's a waste of money buying Aku, coz u can habe boardcad for free. I saw aku shaper has a 'backyarder' fee of $7.00, but what do I get access to? Can I design a few plan shapes to save to my hard drive? And how to print my designs? After u have this two installed, download the jnpl file and execute it. If can also install boardcad on a mac os x.Įasy, on windows ur supose to have the latest java and also java 3d. Without a computer it'll be kinda difficult (i say impossible) to install boardcad on ur handwriting machine. U can also draw ur template by hand hahahaha or u can download Boardcad from here Īlso, would I need a computer to use board cad, aku shaper etc. ![]() Is this software downloadable at a public library? I mean, do I have to download any programs to draw me a template?
